| Each year, outstanding junior, senior,
and graduate students, as well as recent graduates,
are selected to attend the two-day annual IRTS
Minority Career Workshop…. |
The event begins with a one-day orientation
to the electronic media business at which attendees learn
how to get a competitive edge in their job search.
In addition, participants hone their networking skills by attending a major IRTS
industry event, at which they are assigned to a specific corporate table. The
group is formally introduced from the podium to help get valuable conversations
started. |
| Informal conversations with professionals are
a great way to learn more about job opportunities and career
tracks. |
| Conferees meet corporate CEOs and other industry
leaders—invaluable connections and resources for the
future. |
| The following day, conferees have an opportunity
to interview with approximately 30 major communications companies
and/or their subsidiaries. |
| In addition to discussing actual jobs, conferees
are encouraged to use the interviews to learn more about
career options within a company, as well as get constructive
criticism on their resumes or interviewing skills. Whereas
you might expect jitters, attendees confess that the interview
portion of the conference is far more relaxed and enjoyable
than you might think. |
